Top Paul A. Friedman, M.D.

President and Chief Executive Officer

Paul A. Friedman joined Incyte in 2001 as Chief Executive Officer and a Director.

From 1994 to 1998 Dr. Friedman served as President of R & D for the DuPontMerck Pharmaceutical Company and from 1998 to 2001 as the President of DuPont Pharmaceuticals Research Laboratories, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the DuPont Company. From 1991 to 1994, he served as Senior Vice President at Merck Research Laboratories. Prior to his work at Merck and DuPont, Dr. Friedman was an associate professor of medicine and pharmacology at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Friedman is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, member of the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation and member of the American Society of Biological Chemistry. He received his A.B. in biology from Princeton University and his M.D. from Harvard Medical School.


Top Patricia S. Andrews

Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer

Patricia S. Andrews joined Incyte as Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer in October 2008.

From 1991 to 2008, Ms. Andrews was at Pfizer in various roles of increasing responsibility in Corporate Strategic Planning and Worldwide Pharmaceutical Operations. Ms. Andrews was most recently Vice President, General Manager of the US Oncology business unit and Vice President, Specialty Markets, responsible for US marketing of oncology, ophthalmology, endocrinology, anti-infectives, HIV and all products still sold but no longer actively marketed in the US. Prior to Pfizer, from 1985 to 1990, Ms. Andrews held various positions at Marine Midland Bank, including Vice President, Capital Finance.

Ms. Andrews has an MBA from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in history and political science from Brown University.


Top Steve Friedman, M.D.

Executive Vice President, Biology and Preclinical Development

Steve is licensed to practice medicine in the state of New York and was affiliated with such leading institutions as: Columbia, Cornell University Medical College, The Hospital for Special Surgery and The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. His areas of expertise include immunology and rheumatology and he is widely published in both fields.

Steve joined the pharmaceutical industry in 1997 and since then has led a number of R&D project teams focused primarily on chronic inflammation and oncology. His teams have successfully discovered, characterized, and brought into clinical development several novel small molecule antagonists including two first in class anti-inflammatory agents.

Prior to joining Incyte in January 2002, he was Vice President, Biology, with Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (BMS). Prior to BMS he was with DuPont Pharmaceuticals as an Executive Director, Immunological & Inflammatory Diseases Research.

He received his M.D. from Cornell University Medical College.


Top David C. Hastings

Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

David C. Hastings joined Incyte as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in October 2003.

Before joining Incyte, Mr. Hastings was Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer at ArQule, Inc. Prior to joining ArQule, he was with Genzyme, as Vice President, Corporate Controller, and prior to Genzyme he spent three years as Director of Finance at Sepracor, Inc. From 1985 to 1994, Mr. Hastings was with PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Mr. Hastings is a Certified Public Accountant and received his B.A. in economics from the University of Vermont.


Top Richard S. Levy, M.D.

Executive Vice President, Chief Drug Development and Medical Officer

Richard S. Levy joined Incyte as Senior Vice President, Drug Development in August 2003. Dr. Levy has over 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors through his prior positions at Celgene, DuPont Pharmaceuticals and Novartis.

Dr. Levy has extensive clinical research, regulatory and product development skills and has worked in multiple therapeutic areas including HIV, cancer and inflammation. Prior to joining Incyte, Dr. Levy served as Vice President, Biologic Therapies at Celgene where he was responsible for clinical development and regulatory affairs for the Cellular Therapeutics Division. Prior to Celgene, from 1997 to 2002, he was with DuPont Pharmaceuticals first as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Pharmacovigilence and then as Vice President, Medical and Commercial Strategy. In these positions, he played an important role in the development, registration, approval and commercialization of Sustiva, a leading anti-HIV drug. He was at Novartis from 1991 to 1997 in positions of increasing responsiblity in clinical research and regulatory affairs.

Dr. Levy received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.


Top Brian W. Metcalf, Ph.D.

Executive Vice President and Chief Drug Discovery Scientist

Brian W. Metcalf joined Incyte in February 2002 as Executive Vice President and Chief Drug Discovery Scientist.

From March 2000 to February 2002, Dr. Metcalf served as Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of Kosan Biosciences, Incorporated. From December 1983 to March 2000, Dr. Metcalf held a number of executive management positions with SmithKline Beecham, including Senior Vice President, Discovery Chemistry and Platform Technologies. Prior to joining SmithKline Beecham, Dr. Metcalf held positions with Merrell Research Center from 1973 to 1983.

Dr. Metcalf received his B.S. and Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Western Australia.


Top Patricia A. Schreck

Executive Vice President, General Counsel

Patricia A. Schreck joined Incyte as our Executive Vice President and General Counsel in December 2003.

Prior to joining Incyte, Ms. Schreck was chief patent counsel at Elan Drug Delivery, Inc. Previously, she served as general counsel for Genomics Collaborative, Inc. and diaDexus, Inc. (a SmithKline Beecham & Incyte joint venture). From 1992 through 1998, Ms. Schreck held a variety of senior patent and corporate legal positions at SmithKline Beecham. Ms. Schreck holds a B.A. in Chemistry and Biology from University of Colorado and a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law. Ms. Schreck is admitted to practice before the United States Patent Bar.


Top Paula J. Swain

Executive Vice President, Human Resources

Paula J. Swain joined Incyte in January 2002 and serves as Executive Vice President of Human Resources.

Prior to joining the company, Ms. Swain spent nearly ten years with DuPont Pharmaceuticals Company (acquired by Bristol-Myers Squibb Company in 2001) where she served as Vice President and Senior Vice President of Human Resources. She has also held human resource planning and employee relations positions with Chase Manhattan Bank, Marine Midland Bank and Delaware Trust Company.

Ms. Swain received her B.A. in psychology from Rockhurst College and graduated from the strategic human resources planning program at Harvard Business School.
