The Drive to Discover. The Experience to Deliver.
Research & Development
Since we began our drug-discovery and development activities in early 2002, we have filed Investigational New Drug applications and progressed multiple internally developed proprietary compounds into clinical development. In late 2011, we received our first U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for
Jakafi® (ruxolitinib), a JAK1 and JAK2 inhibitor.
Our core competency in medicinal chemistry, which is tightly integrated with and supported by an experienced team of biologists with expertise in multiple therapeutic areas, has been a primary driver of our productivity in drug discovery. We have also built significant clinical development and regulatory teams. These teams use clinical research organizations, expert scientific advisory boards, and leading consultants and suppliers in relevant drug development areas in an effort to conduct our clinical trials as efficiently and effectively as possible while maintaining strategic control of the design and management of our programs.
Our Experienced Team
Incyte has an exceptional team of drug discovery and development scientists led by distinguished executives with proven records of success and many scientific and clinical achievements.
We employ top talent that adhere to the highest standards of scientific and clinical rigor, and we resource our programs for success. We have a strong discovery team that is tightly integrated with all disciplines, including development, regulatory and commercial. Our therapeutic experience includes oncology and inflammation.
Our researchers come from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences and bring with them the benefits of their expertise in genomics and bioinformatics, chemogenomics, high-throughput screening, combinatorial chemistry, computational chemistry, structural biology, as well as all aspects of molecular biology, biochemistry, in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, and pharmacokinetics. Our development team includes professionals with broad experience in all aspects of clinical development.
We believe the size, talent and prior experience of our discovery and development teams enable us to compete successfully with much larger pharmaceutical companies in selecting compelling targets, creating high-quality drug candidates, and rapidly and effectively moving them through preclinical development and into human testing. For example, within just four years, our team brought a novel discovery (Jakafi) from the laboratory to the commercial market.
